Coaching to make a difference

Today I caught up with one of my first coaching clients, one month into their new job. When we first spoke they were in a difficult place, feeling undervalued and working for a boss with whom they had a difficult relationship.

Over the course of our coaching conversations it became clear that they were a talented individual who cared a lot about work and had much to offer in the right environment. They applied for a new role, got the job – which was at a more senior level – and seem very happy in their new environment.

So today was a short chat where they wanted to offer thanks for ‘giving me the confidence to believe in myself and to present myself in a positive way in an interview’.

An old boss of mine had the following mantra: Stay and be happy or go and be happy but don’t stay and be unhappy. I believe this is a great summary of this situation. Sometimes the best option is to reset and stay and sort things out. In this case the previous company now has the chance to recruit someone who will have a more positive relationship with the boss, the client has a new job in which they can shine and their new company has a keen new senior talent in place who is eager to do well.

Win – win – win

Let’s start the conversation
